Most garage door companies answer "how much?" with "we'll have to come take a look." Here is what you can actually know before anyone drives out to your house in Auburn or Opelika: what the visit costs, what springs cost, and how we price everything else.
The short answer
Two prices are fixed and public: the service call and spring replacement. Everything else depends on what broke and what your door is made of, so we price it from a photo of your door before we come out.

What the service call covers
Every repair starts with a diagnostic visit. We look at the whole door, find what failed and why, and tell you the price before we touch anything. The fee is set by how far we drive from our Auburn base, and it is the only travel charge. It is credited toward your repair if you go ahead with the work that visit.
- Under 30 minutes, $75: Auburn, Opelika, Beauregard, Loachapoka, Waverly, Notasulga, and most of Lee County.
- 30 to 60 minutes, $125: Smiths Station, Salem, Valley, Tallassee, Dadeville, Camp Hill.
- Over an hour, $175: Phenix City, Alexander City, Lake Martin.
So if you live in Auburn or Opelika and we fix your door on the first visit, the $75 comes off the bill. New-door estimates are free wherever we go.
Springs: the one repair with a price list
A broken spring is the repair we do most, and it is the one we can price without seeing your door first. Springs are sized by the weight of the door. A heavier door needs a thicker, longer spring, which costs more to buy and takes longer to wind. Both springs, installed: $389 for standard springs (most single-car doors and standard double doors), $499 for heavy springs (most insulated double doors), and $699 for extra-heavy springs.

How we price everything else
For the rest, the honest answer depends on the part and the door. Most common repairs land in the low hundreds. Here is what moves each one, so you know what we are looking at in your photo.
Cables
A snapped or frayed lift cable usually shows up with a broken spring, because the cable takes the shock when the spring lets go. If a cable is the only problem, the price depends on whether the drums at the ends of the spring shaft are still good. Frayed cables are worth fixing early: when one gives out, the door can drop crooked and jam in the track.
Openers
Opener repairs range from a stripped gear to a dead logic board or a bad safety sensor. Sensors and gears are the cheaper end. A board or motor on an opener that is 12 to 15 years old is usually where we will tell you a new opener makes more sense. A new opener installed runs from a few hundred dollars up to around fifteen hundred for the top model with a camera and battery backup. Off-track doors and bent track
A door that has jumped its track is usually the result of something else: a broken cable, a worn roller, or a car that clipped the door. Straightening and resetting the track is on the lower end. A bent section that has to be replaced costs more. If your door is crooked or hanging, don't run the opener. That bends the track further and can tear the panel. Rollers and a loud door
A lot of the loud doors we see have worn steel rollers. Swapping them for sealed nylon rollers is one of the most common add-ons we do, and it costs less when we are already there for another repair. If your door grinds or squeals, why is my garage door so loud covers the causes.
Dented or torn panels
One bad panel can often be replaced without a new door, if the maker still builds that panel. The price depends on the brand, the style, and whether the panel has to be special-ordered. When a hinge has torn out of the steel but the panel is otherwise sound, we can sometimes bolt a steel plate over good metal and hang a new hinge on it, which costs far less than a panel. If two or more panels are damaged on an older door, a new door is often the better buy.
Tune-ups
On a tune-up, we check the whole door, lubricate and tighten what needs it, test the balance and the safety reverse, and text you photos of anything worn. Nothing gets fixed unless you say so. A yearly visit is the cheapest way to avoid a surprise spring on a Monday morning.
What can change the price
- Drive time. The service call goes up the farther you are from Auburn. The repair price itself does not.
- Your door. Size, weight, insulation, and brand decide which parts fit, and some parts have to be special-ordered.
- The space. Low headroom above the door or a packed garage can make a job take longer. We say so when we see it in your photo.
- The clock. Our hours are 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 5pm on weekends. Work we do outside those hours is emergency service, a flat $139 add that we quote before we come. Calling late to book a regular slot costs nothing extra.
Will the price change once you're in my garage?
No. The range we text you from your photo is the price. If we find something you didn’t show us, we show you a photo and ask before doing anything. That rule exists because the thing homeowners fear most in this trade is a quote that grows once the tech is inside. We hold to it. Repair or replace?
Fixing the door you have is almost always cheaper this year. Replacing makes more sense when the door is past about 15 years old, more than one panel is damaged, or you are paying for repairs every year.
